Our Mother, the Northwest

Joel Gamache traces the story of his ancestor Pierre Ducharme through the prairies, Lac La Biche, Morleyville, and Calgary. Through family history, he explores Métis mobility, kinship, relationships with First Nations, and the effects of colonial systems on Métis land and collective rights. The story ultimately returns to what continues: Michif language, harvesting, making relatives, and connection to ancestors and homeland.
